Relationship Goals: Examples for Couples

Updated August 2026

Goals give a couple something to build toward together. The best shared goals are specific enough to act on and small enough to finish. Below are examples across a few categories, plus how to set ones that last.

Habit goals

  • Have a weekly date night for the next month
  • Put phones away during dinner
  • Do a short weekly check-in together

Experience goals

  • Plan and take a weekend trip together
  • Try one new activity neither of you has done
  • Cook a meal from a new cuisine together

Project and growth goals

  • Save toward something you both want
  • Learn a new skill together
  • Read a book or take a course and talk about it

How to make goals stick

Name what “done” looks like so you know when you finish. Keep one or two active at a time rather than a long list. Check in on them weekly so they stay visible. And celebrate when you complete one — that momentum matters.

Relationship lets you set and track shared goals in your private space. Free includes up to 3 active goals; Premium unlocks unlimited goals with milestones and history. See relationship goals.
